Technical Arts Manager

What We’re Looking For…
 
Currently, we are seeking a full-time Technical Arts Manager to join our team! This position oversees the day-to-day operations of Connie Brown Hall at the Tribby Arts Center (TAC) in addition to the technical services for meeting spaces throughout Shell Point Retirement Community.
 
Job Functions (Essential):
  • Manages all scenic lighting and sound support for programming at the TAC and throughout Shell Point’s meeting spaces as needed.
  • Maintains all TAC production and staging equipment in good working order including, but not limited to; lighting and light board, follow spots, microphones, cables, mixing board, fly system, stage draping, risers, music stands, podiums, computers, and video/audio equipment.
  • Maintains an up-to-date master inventory list of all production and stage assets and ensures a regular maintenance schedule is followed.
  • Trains and supervises employees, volunteers and interns on the proper use of production and audiovisual equipment.
  • Manages audiovisual equipment inventory for TAC and ensures all is in good working order through frequent quality assurance checks.
  • Documents all procedures and equipment related to lighting, sound, and backstage operations.
  • Develops and maintains separate training manuals for each area to ensure volunteers have comprehensive and accurate information.
  • Designs and executes visual, sound and recording components of events including set pieces, lighting and cameras.
  • Serves as the primary liaison for contract technical riders and staging requirements for artists/attractions working with Shell Point including equipment vendors.
  • Oversees all load-ins, loadouts, and rehearsals requiring the use of Shell Point equipment.
  • Creates production calendars specific to Connie Brown Hall at the TAC and coordinates with Shell Point wide master schedule of production support needs.
  • Recommends and manages production and audio-visual equipment purchases.
  • Oversees video production and editing of events at the TAC, those offered through The Academy of Lifelong Learning and other events throughout Shell Point.
  • Maintains a department video library on the Shell Point secure resident website (.net) of all fitness, concerts, and program and course offerings.
  • Works cooperatively with the Village Church Tech Manager to coordinate space as needed for concerts held at TVC.
 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Requirements:
  • Clear communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to manage the day-to-day operations and oversight of the theatre.
  • Capable of handling unique and diverse events throughout the year for TAC, the Academy of Lifelong Learning, special Resident Programming Events and The Legacy Foundation.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with the senior population
  • Effective feedback, teaching and coaching skills in working with volunteers, employees and outside contractors
  • Demonstrate a complete and current understanding of technical and staging equipment used in theatrical and event settings
  • Current working knowledge of various audio-visual equipment and systems
  • Must have the ability to work a varied schedule based on production needs including evenings and weekends
 
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in theatrical arts, technical production or related is preferred
  • Technical skills to include Apple and Microsoft environments as well as common applications. Understanding of technical and staging equipment must include CBH current sound board, Yamaha ql5, and lighting control board, ETC ion.
  • Working knowledge of the sound and lighting networks, Dante and DMX, preferred.
