What We’re Looking For…
We are seeking a full-time IT Systems Engineer to join our team! This is NOT a remote position, you will be required to work on-site. The IT Systems Engineer will support and maintain servers, storage, patching, group policies, active directory, backups, cloud systems, and security tools. The ideal candidate will have three years of progressive experience in systems administration with Microsoft Azure, VMware VSphere, and Cisco Unified Communications experience a plus. This position requires availability to work on-call for emergencies which includes nights and weekends.
Job Functions:
- Ensures proper function of Windows servers to maintain a goal of at least 99.9% network up-time and availability (not including scheduled downtime for maintenance and upgrades).
- Maintains, and supports network and systems monitoring software, virtual server and physical server environment, cloud environments including Azure and Office 365, and server-based application software,
- Maintains Mobile Device Management platform and policies.
- Administers Active Directory and Group Policies.
- Maintains system configuration documentation and diagrams.
- Assists the Network Engineers with network troubleshooting and repair.
- Administers backup systems and storage arrays. Performs periodic health checks, test restorations, reviews backup reports.
- Maintains appropriate security and protection for data in accordance with all laws and standard operating practices including virus protection, internet filtering software and network security logs.
- Evaluates and installs patches and upgrades for server operating systems and application software – testing before full-scale deployment.
- Aggregates and monitors system event logs for issues.
- Assists with the secure and timely transfer of the Shell Point network operations to the Hurricane Shelter in the event of a hurricane.
- Continually evaluate solutions and recommend improvements to the IT Infrastructure Manager and IT Director.
- Reports unresolved issues to the IT Infrastructure Manager and records problem resolutions in the appropriate logs.
Additional Functions:
- Attends appropriate industry conferences and webinars and reviews literature and websites to remain current with technology and regulations
- Represents the department in meetings if assigned by the IT Infrastructure Manager
- Provides Tier 3 hardware and software support as an escalation point for Help Desk and Application Support teams.
Knowledge, Skill, Abilities and Other Requirements:
- Strong understanding of Windows Operating Systems, Active Directory, group policy, DNS, DHCP, database management, backup software and best practices, and virus protection software
- Strong understanding of VMware or other virtualization technologies
- Strong understanding of Microsoft 365 products, including Azure/Entra ID, spam control, and endpoint security.
- Strong understanding of Mobile Device Management.
- Proficient in PowerShell scripting.
- Remote Desktop Service installation and administration.
- Security threat monitoring and response.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Utilizes extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals either independently or with team.
- Expectation of working in the hurricane shelter in the event of a hurricane.
Education:
- Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate and/or a combination of Microsoft Certifications, CompTIA certifications, and comparable work experience required.
- VMWare certifications or technical training desired.
- Cisco Unified Communications certifications or technical training desired.
- Familiarity with ITIL framework and best practices.
