Insurance Verification/Billing Specialist

What We’re Looking For…
 
Currently, we are seeking a full-time Insurance Verification/Billing Specialist to join our team! 
 
Job Summary
Verifies therapy insurance benefits as well as bills outpatient therapy claims in a timely manner
 
Job Functions (essential):
  • Enter correct insurance information in both practice management systems
  • Scan insurance cards into practice management system
  • Contact insurance company and obtain therapy benefits for each resident as requested from the therapy department
  • Verify if authorization is required for therapy services
  • Obtain authorization for outpatient therapy services if authorization is required
  • Provide written insurance verification details to therapy department
  • Bill all outpatient therapy claims correctly and timely to all insurance carriers according to billing guidelines set forth by CMS/payer
  • Communicates directly with insurance carriers to get claims processed and paid in a timely manner
Requirements:
  • Knowledge of medical billing, billing guidelines, insurance claims, and explanation of benefits
  • Accurate, detail-oriented, and able to exercise reasonable initiative in completing all assignments in a timely manner
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload as well as ability to meet deadlines on a constant basis
  • Proficient in use of Windows operating system to include Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills in working with residents, patients, insurance carriers, Shell Point co-workers, and management
Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • CPC certification and ICD-10 certification strongly preferred
Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years medical billing/collections experience including proficiency in CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 Coding
  • Knowledge of Continuing Care Retirement Communities preferable
