Job Description

The Club at Shell Point is an 18 hole semi-private facility located in Fort Myers, Florida. Shell Point is a Gordon Lewis design that opened in 2000 consisting of 419 Bermuda fairways and roughs, ‘Celebration’ Bermuda tees and recent fully renovated greens in 2013 with Platinum TE paspalum.

The IPM Specialist position is responsible for maintenance of the golf course grounds and related properties through proper application of fertilizer and chemicals. Work is accomplished through proper application methods, scheduling, record keeping, purchasing of products and materials.

Candidate will have minimum 2 year degree in horticulture, agronomy or other plant/soil related science, or 2-3 years related golf course turf management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Candidate will possess working knowledge of fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides for golf course turf and landscape management.

Must possess a valid Florida Commercial Ornamental and Turf pesticide applicator license. 

Duties and Requirements:

  • Performs applications of fertilizers, herbicides, insecticides and fungicides for proper turf and plant health
  • Monitor insect, disease and weed activity on the golf course and develop preventative and corrective measures to implement for control
  • Maintains proper calibration of all application equipment performing preventative maintenance and monthly calibration tests
  • Maintains thorough understanding of product and fertility labels as they pertain to application rates and methods, equipment, and personal and environmental safety

  • Assists in purchasing of products and keeps monthly inventory records
  • Assist as needed with all other duties pertaining to the daily operations for golf course maintenance
